New Provings in EH

The new version of EH 2.2, comes with the opportunity to open and work with additional databases. Here is the first free database to download which contains several valuable provings in English.

This Proving database is free for all EH 2.x users, but you need to update to EH 2.2 first. Click here to download this update now.

Provings included in this Web Update are:

1. BERRIDGE Edward W.

A Classical Proving of Medorrhinum. Presented by Julian Winston (bra4)

This is the only large published proving of Medorrhinum. Why it was "translated" is unexplained, since Dr. Berridge was an English speaker with a practice in the UK. He was a close associate of Ad. Lippe, Samuel Swan, and Thomas Skinner, and with them, edited the journal The Organon from 1878-1880.

Although there are 56 proving sources listed, scant information is given about some of the provers, who supervised, or what dosages were given. We find in number 46 a proving done on a "child or children."

In the proving we find the now "keynote" symptom of sleeping on the knees with the behind up, and the head in the pillow. This was seen in one of the children, aged five. Most of these provings were done with high potencies prepared by Fincke or Swan.

2. IRWIN A.

Seven Streams of Taosca, a Classical Proving (iwa1)

Anne Irwin, proverFifteen people did the proving including myself. I started my proving on the 18th February 1997. Two other provers started during the following week and the remaining provings were done over the next year with 4 starting in 1998.

The provers were labeled 1-15. Provers 3, 4, 6, 14, 15 were men. Provers 1, 2, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 were women. Age of provers ranged from 22 to 60 years. All provings were done in the 30C potency. Provers were asked to take one dose twice daily until symptoms appeared.

3. IRWIN A.

A Classical Proving of Tory Island Clay. Red Granite Clay (iwa2)

Anne Irwin, prover13 people took part in the proving including myself. I started the proving in August 1998 and completed it in 2003.

The provers are labelled 1-13. Provers 5, 6, 7 and 11 were men, provers 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 9, 10, 12 and 13 were women. They ranged in age from 25 to 58. The 30th potency was used by all the provers. Provers were asked to take one dose twice daily until symptoms appeared.

4. KÖNIG Peter and SANTOS Ute

Dream Proving of Rhododendron chrysantum (kgp5)

Peter Konig, proverUta Santos, proverOnce again our provers (A to P) were students and individuals attending the Homeopathy lectures at the University of Vienna. Some provers (four) had already participated in the Berberis proving.

Neither the proving directors nor the provers were aware of the name of the proving remedy. First and foremost the proving remedy was decided upon (by drawing lots) out of a group of seven previously chosen remedies of interest.

The potency was once again 30C, whereby one dose (= 5 globules) was to be taken once daily until the emergence of (dream) symptoms and once the proving symptoms had subsided to recommence taking the remedy. In all the proving records of 12 provers (5 men and 7 women) were evaluated, including ourselves the proving directors.

5. MASTER F. J.

A classical proving of Bitis arietans (mtf37)

Farokh Master, prover5 provers

6. MORGAN J.

A Meditative Proving of Hadrian's Wall (mgj1)

John Morgan, proverBy staff of Helios homoeopathic pharmacy, October 1998. The remedy was triturated by Margaret Chadwick in September 1998. The sample used was taken from a stretch of 'wall' composed of glacial till.

The Helios staff would like to express their gratitude for her permission to work with this remedy and hope the following will add to any other symptom picture obtained.

7. MORGAN J.

The Meditative Proving of Pearl Taken from the Common Mussel (mgj2)

John Morgan, proverThis remedy proving was undertaken by Helios Pharmacy staff. It is a meditative proving conducted while making the remedy from substance to 30c. Receivings, sensations, dreams and symptoms experienced during and after the making and taking of the remedy are those recorded.

To complete this proving it would be ideal to also conduct a conventional proving. The power of a group of people in Harmony and in a Heightened (and protected) State of Consciousness must be emphasised here. With thanks and Love and Light to Everyone at Helios.

8. ROSENBAUM Paulo et al.

Lapis Lazuli, a Proving (rsp1)

Paulo Rosenbaum, proverA pathogenesy developed by the Team of Escola Paulista de Homeopatia - São Paulo - Brazil (rsp1)

10 provers. The double-blind method was adopted; the substance being revealed after the proving was over. The experimental protocol of Brosimum gaudichaudii (Congresso Nacional de Homeopatia, RS, 1998) was employed.

9. SHORE J.

Investigations into the Psyche of the Spider (sej10)

Jonathan Shore, proverdream proving - 100 provers
This article outlines a series of preliminary investigations into the effects of spider venom on the deeper levels of the human psyche. Initial data was gathered from a series of 'dream provings' and subsequently evaluated in the light of previously recorded materia medica, entomological studies and clinical experience.

The provings were conducted in seminar settings in Finland, Germany and Australia. In Finland and Germany, Latrodectus mactans was used. The source of the remedy is unknown but is believed to have come from Nelsons Pharmacy in London some 20 years ago. The potency used was 30c. In Australia a preparation of Atrax robustus 30c was given.

Bites from both of these spiders, especially the latter, have been known to cause death. The nature of the remedy was unknown to the provers. Participants were instructed to take a single dose of the remedy on going to bed at night and to keep a book and pen at their bedside to record dreams or any other unusual experiences.

The experience was entirely voluntary with about one third to one half of the attendees participating. It was suggested that if someone was undecided they should take the packet anyway and just put it under the pillow. 20 people in Finland, 50 in Germany and 30 in Australia took the remedy home. Dreams and other experiences of those who wished to speak were recorded on the second day. I have arranged and abstracted some of the most striking material which is presented in the body of the article.

10. SNOWDON J.

The Classical Homeopathic Proving of Heroin (sdj2)
