Timothy Owens began his teaching career in 1973 after studying with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in Canada and Spain and subsequently opening a Transcendental Meditation Center in his hometown of Troy, New York. In 1982 he graduated Phi Beta Kappa from SUNY Albany with a Bachelors in English.
He went on to secure Masters Degrees in Education and English, also from SUNY Albany, before beginning a career as a high school English teacher in Schenectady, New York, where he has taught for the last 18 years. As a teacher, Tim has trained extensively in cooperative learning and been certified as a human relations facilitator through the New York State United Teachers.
He has also been trained as a Theory of Knowledge teacher in the International Baccalaureate Program, teaching basic epistemology to high school students. Tim became interested in homeopathy in 1990, studying with Robin Murphy, Jan Scholten, Bob Stewart and Lou Klein.
In addition to his voracious reading of the homeopathic canon, Tim did a lengthy internship in the office of Dr. Joel Kreisberg. With Dr. Kreisberg, Tim helped design the Teleosis School of Homeopathy and has taught at Teleosis since its inception in 1997. He has had a small homeopathy practice for the last 12 years in Niskayuna (near Schenectady), New York.
