Homeopathy in Japan

Homeopathy in Japan

Although the history of Japan is not mentioned in any sources, the 1911 Directory listed two homeopaths: Dr. Mary A. Suganuma (Cleveland 1883) in Nagasaki, and Herbert W. Schwartz, MD in Yokohama.

There were also three graduates from Japan who attended homeopathic colleges in the USA between 1899 and 1902. German old school officials convinced the Japanese Government to prohibit anyone with a homeopathic degree from practicing, so a "regular" degree was needed to practice. The present status is unknown.
