The Homoeopathic Courier began publication in January, 1881 planning two yearly volumes with six numbers in each volume. With the publication of volume 2 in July, 1881, William C. Richardson became the managing editor, with J.T. Boyd and J. Tyler Kent as associate editors.

The full title of the journal, as of volume 2, was The Homoeopathic Courier, a Monthly Journal devoted to Medicine and its Allied Sciences.

Publication was discontinued at the end of vol. 2, after all twelve numbers promised for the year were issued. The subscription price was $2.
