From Isaac Golden's Introduction
How to Use the Workbook
The workbook is divided into 18 Chapters, each one covering a major body system, or group of disorders. Within each chapter the major health conditions covered by the body system are listed and analyzed.
The analysis generally takes the following format:
- Definition of the disease
- Major symptoms of the disease
- Rubrics commonly used when analyzing the disease
- Remedies often needed to treat the condition,
with brief prescribing details including
relevant modalities.
An example of how this
information is used in practice
When a patient presents who requires treatment for a limited condition, e.g. the patient feels generally healthy on all levels, but has developed a bladder infection, then the workbook can be used to assist the practitioner to make a quick but accurate prescription. The steps to be followed are:
1. Turn to the index at the front of the workbook. We know that a bladder infection will be covered by the Kidney and Urinary chapter (Chapter 8), so we look at the list of conditions covered there.
2. The medical term for a bladder infection is cystitis, and this is located on page 184.
3. Turn to page 184 and examine the symptoms of each remedy shown. If for example the patient's symptoms match almost exactly the symptoms shown for say the remedy Apis, then prescribe that remedy.
4. If none of the remedies shown seem to match the patient's condition then the practitioner must construct a repertorial analysis of the symptoms. The list of rubrics shown following the description of the disease can be used to assist the practitioner to quickly locate most of the needed rubrics for the analysis.
