Principles and Practice of Homoeopathy, Vol. 1 - Homeopathic Philosophy and Repertorization, by M. L. Dhawale, MD, was first published in 1967.

This course of study grew out of the annual lecture series of the Post-Graduate Homoeopathic Association. Volume 2 was to be Materia Medica. Volume 3 was to be Practice Management.

This volume presents a lucid modern interpretation of the principles that underlie homeopathic medicine.

After introductory chapters covering the concept of disease in homeopathy, symptomatology, and case taking, Dhawale presents wonderfully detailed information on different repertorization methods-Boenninghausen, Boger, and Kent, all illustrated by case examples. This is a rare opportunity to compare these methods side by side.

Other chapters include remedy selection, susceptibility, posology, the structure of materia medica, and Hahnemann's concept of chronic disease.

Dhawale approaches this work from the perspective of a teacher imparting the fundamentals of his work. As one advances in their homeopathic practice, this book remains useful at various levels.

Julian Winston writes:
A very in-depth and well presented study. The philosophy behind the repertories is explained and emphasized as to why one would be used in preference to another.
