John Alexander Borneman, PhD, emigrated from Germany to the US in 1890. When he was 23, he graduated from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy.
Borneman was professor emeritus of pharmacy at Hahnemann Medical College and Hospital and at his alma mater the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science. In 1907, at the age of 28, he founded Borneman Laboratories.
According to the JAIH (1955) Borneman
"...was noted for his work in botany and kept a nursery at his home where he grew belladonna and digitalis and many other homeopathic plants."
"Hahnemann Medical College conducted provings in the 1920s and he supplied the school with raw materials and remedies. Graduates of Hahnemann will recall their freshman year trip to the Borneman Labs in Norwood to observe the manufacture of homeopathic remedies."
